What seems to be dead though is the name 'Raymond's' at it's (now previous?) location on Admirals in View Royal! Perhaps, they have gone through a re-branding as the site still sports the Raymond-esque neon signs, but this time with the name Royal Palace.
Interestingly enough, their window-posted menu claims "WE ARE THE BEST BUFFET IN TOWN" which as you can see contradicts the ratings to the immediate right of this text ->
Apart from the signs and name, it appears Raym.. er Royal Palace will only be offering a Lunch Buffet with this new iteration. Moreover, if this restaurant really did just go through a name change, and their food quality remains the same, I can assure you they are NOT the best buffet in town which can be noted from the previous review of Raymonds at the same location.
Expect a review up early next week.

The Raymond's on Blanshard was up for sale a while ago (maybe still is?) so it's not entirely a given that this is a simple re-branding.
I have been to the new incarnation of restaurant here and I was FLOORED! I was expecting nothing to be different other than the decor but I can safely say it was the best industrial chinese food I have ever had. The food was fresh, things that were supposed to be crisp (batter, snow peas) were crisp, the shrimp was melting in your mouth tender, the beef was sliced to cut like butter and the food had flavour in and of itself - not just sauce drenched.
Surprised? You bet. Going back? Hell yes. I will say the service was INCREDIBLY SLOW but they meant well and were still learning the ropes when we got there. Hopefully everyone else has the same experience we did but for now.. I highly recommend it.
Ok. food was ok. Nothing special and again another buffet in town. Service was extremely slow !!
Purple garden still the best !! Hands down. if you can't get all the way across town, then Szchaun City buffet will suffice !!

I didn't think it even rated 'industrial chinese'... bland, old, (even though I was there at 1pm!), not restocked...
Hands down WINGS on the Gorge is the MOST reliable, industrial chinese... good price too!

Guess what? The Loghouse pub has a Sunday brunch buffet for $15.95!
What an improvement! It's not another Buffet. I like their food a lot. Ginger beef is the best I would say...come on ! you guys should try it..Thanks god! Admirals bridge opened again.It saves a lot of time for traffic though.

Shit got hectic at the end of August with the end of my co-op job in Victoria and my return to Onterrible for school.
I should have kept my word to review the buffet, but ended up lacking the time to do so.
