Since Yokohama won't put out a decent effort with their Tuesday night all-you-can-eat menu, the city of Victoria is left out to dry in terms of good all-you-can-eat Japanese food. Unless you travel to Sidney on Saturday nights.
There were plenty of good dishes at Taste of Tokyo but not enough to freak out about.
The crab legs were decent, not as good as fresh crab legs, but it was still crab in an all-you-can-eat setting. They were served steamed in hot water, with lots of meat coming out of the shell.

The teriyaki steak sometimes sat a little long and got a little cold, but nonetheless it was cooked rare and tasted great covered in sweet teriyaki sauce. Next-door to the steak were deep fried sushi-rolls, potato cakes and gyoza. All were tasty and delicious. The potato cake, while filling, was like eating deep fried mashed potatoes. Just a beautiful experience, though a filling one, so beware.

Speaking of filling, there is plenty of sushi to keep you lunchtime Fujiya lovers satisfied. The spicy tuna roll is the standout here, while the worlds supply of freshwater eel will continue to dwindle as they have Unagi on rice, a personal favorite.
The karage chicken was fried beautifully and came in nice big chunks, but the tempura was not being refilled enough. Andrew and I cleaned out the remains of the tempura prawns, and came back ten minutes later to see a few pieces of yam and onion left under the heating tray. The baked oysters was just cream sauce, peas, diced carrots and corn nibbles inside an oyster shell, and the Yakisoba Noodles was ruined by bitter cabbage, but other than that, the buffet here is pretty good and I would suggest it as your all-you-can-eat Japanese destination in the Greater Victoria Area.
